Illustrator Showcase
For this showcase I had to create tattoo designs for 6 different people. I had 30 hours to complete this project and this is what I created.
I started by asking my clients some question about what tattoo they wanted and some inspiration. Once everyone sent in their answers i got to work on sketching each design.
Reese wanted a large back piece. She wanted flowers down her spine with her birthday incorporated into the design of the flowers. Luke wanted a bouquet of flowers. He gave me a list of flowers he wanted and also asked for a ribbon around the stems of the flowers. Brooklynn wanted the saying “always and forever” as well as a bible verse. Whitfield wanted a Rhodesian Ridgeback with a boho feeling. Ellie wanted a semicolon butterfly with some stars and swirly lines. Lastly I wanted a vulture with lyrics from one of my favorite songs.

Once I had all he sketches complete I took them into illustrator and made them look pretty.

The Significance of the Design
Ava: This design represents the urge to fight and scavenge for reasons to stay but also accepting the fact that everything comes to an end. The vulture also represents looking and searching for ways to keep someone around even though they are gone, wether its a smell of some sort or something of theirs. The lyric are from the song “Neon Gravestones” by Twenty One Pilots.
Brooklynn: The words “always and forever” are something her and her boyfriend will say to each other when either of them had a rough day and they just need each other to know everyting will be okay.
Ellie: She asked for a semicolon butterfly. A semi colon tattoo represents a story that didn’t end. The semicolon is most commonly associated with being a suicide survivor. The butterfly represents flourishing after such a major event. Shw ants this on her wrist or behind her ear.
Luke: Each flowers is the favorite flower of the most important women in his life. He wants this tattoo on his forearm or upper arm near the shoulder.
Reese: She asked for a large spine tattoo made of flowers. She also asked for her birthday to be incorporated. We decided on the symmetrical design and i ended up with the most perfect space to put her birthday.
Whitfield: I didn’t get much information on why this tattoo is significant but she asked for a Rhodesian ridgeback with a Boho style. She wants this tattoo on her back right shoulder blade.
