I was tasked with creating a hypothetical tattoo design for 6 different people. I created these all in Adobe Illustrator, and I utilized vectors. With my clients, I consulted them for feedback and tweaked them to the critique
My First Design
My first client said that he wanted a traditional Japanese design, and added that he would also like any sort of duality is possible. I created this design based on the story of “The Red Oni Who Cried”
My Second Design
My second client was a big fan of the game My Singing Monsters. Unfortunately, that is a copyrighted game, and I couldn’t make any designs directly from the game. Although, I could make a non-infringing design representing the game, so I made a music note (since the game was about singing and music) and put the main 4 elements included in the game under the note’s flag
My Third Design
My third client wanted a design for valentines day, since it was coming up. She also wanted the incorporation of the infinity symbol, to represent the never-ending love of her and her husband. The phrase “I love you more” is a phrase both her and her husband use a lot. This was based off real text tattoos
My Fourth Design
My fourth client wanted a baby duck for her design. I looked at images of real life duck tattoos, and noticed how most of them were minimalist, without much color. I made this baby duck sitting in water, which is entirely colorless save for the beak
My Fifth Design
My fifth client wanted a design related to her Chinese heritage. I decided to look into Chinese flora, and found out about the beautiful dove tree. My client didn’t want a drawn design, but instead wanted me to use the image trace feature with a real photograph. I found a free-use image and used the image trace feature, and then got rid of the background. I further edited the design to make it look nicer.
My Sixth and Final Design
The final design was actually for myself. I looked at many tattoo designs on the internet. I had a conversation with one of my friends about the assignment, and she asked me what my design would be. After me telling her I didn’t have much idea and me digressing about how I wanted Earth to have rings because they’re very pretty, she recommended that my design could be Earth with planetary rings. After thinking it over, I thought that was a really good idea for a tattoo. I incorporated opulent detail, because I personally like to have my designs be detailed
