I was selected by my teacher to create a submission for the state-wide BPA contest. Out of all of the possible prompts, I chose one about bullying and mental health. Usually, when we think about bullying and mistreatment, we think of hurling insults at people all day every day, but that’s not really how it works. Most bullies “joke” around, or possibly don’t even mean to harass others, but don’t take their feelings into account. We have a worldwide problem of being rude to others, even in collectivist societies. We are going through a loneliness pandemic, and this video specifically talks about the American culture of isolation.

A few years ago, I “made up” “my own” form of animation. This is where I draw full pictures and stitch them together in a video editing program. It’s much easier than trying to make a full-fledged animation, especially since I worked on this alone. I have found this strangely useful, as it’s a good way to make “animations” on a shorter time frame without having to reduce quality by reducing quantity.
How I personally do this is simpler than you might think. I make one layer for a background, and another for the characters, and sometimes one more layer for a foreground if necessary, rinse and repeat. For me to organize this, I make folders for each scene. As for the music and sound effects, it’s only a simple browse through royalty free websites. Use the internet to your advantage!
