I was tasked with creating a poster for the fictitious TV show “Fated to Justice”. The target audience was mystery/thriller fans who were interested in the animation genre

I started with a rough sketch to get down the ideas and composition. I made the character slightly off-center to create a sense of unease. I also intended to use a vintage color palette to carry across the mystery theme. I tried looking at mystery novel covers for inspiration, and tried to avoid tropes that were disliked by many thriller fans by watching the “how not to” videos.

Every TV show has a logo, and I needed to create one for the poster. I took inspiration from many TV show logos from all around the world. A very common trait of TV logos is that they aren’t necessarily complicated, having a distinguishable font and a simple design, but it has a design that sets it apart from the font it came from. I experimented with colors and textures, before settling on a much simpler design, making the top of the “T” in “Justice” a pair of scales
