Character Turnaround
Say Hi to Beneze the character I designed for this project, she's a teenage rat detective who's rather cold as in she's not very expressive but she makes up for it with her cunning mind. My idea is she would star in a show targeted towards teen to pre-teen audiences and wouldn't be gender exclusive.
Initial design concepts I had for her was her with a trench coat but that felt way to clique So I took a more unconventional route making her truly more teen like by giving her a spunky outfit to match.
I'll mention something I struggled with on this project and that is trying to not be a perfectionist I spent way to long on the turnaround frames trying to make them look perfect and to a degree I'm glad I touched them up but there is a point where there's not much reason to making them perfect especially when you have a deadline.
This was my first line art/color drawing of Beneze one detail that didn't make the Final Cut was her earrings I thought they didn't add much, I first came up with her design on oct 12 and did this a day later her design had few variations since I was pretty happy with the initial design.
When it comes to research I did for this project it was very minimal but I did gather some reference material from animal detectives I already knew like Hanna Barbera's Super Snooper to help me brainstorm.
