BPA 2D Animation Project
This is my (our) BPA 2D Animation project!
Our prompt was Smart Solutions for a healthier planet: A GLOBE community’s journey with IoT (Internet of Things.) I was in a team with 2 other people, and it went well. We gave each other roles, my two other teammates were animator and director. I was editing the animatics the director handed to me, and adding sound effects that would soon move on to the final product. I did editing during the near end of the project. But, I also made character designs, backgrounds, props, and did voice acting in pre production!
The protagonists’ (legal) name is “Stupid Kid”, NOT Carl . I made his name Carl as a joke between my teammates and I. He’s a very rude kid, but turns over a new leaf as soon as he meets wavie. The animator voiced him.
On the bottom is SK’s microwave companion, Wavie! They’re a recycled microwave (that’s what we were going for anyway.) I voiced them! I wanted to go for a very Sonic the Hedgehog type of voice when we initially started recording. But I feel like that got lost in translation later on….
Since I made character designs early on, I’m gonna show those sheets right here. We had our character designs made pretty early on, I’d say within our first week. We had our first team meeting, we were brainstorming the story, and I had doodled what the protagonist looks like on the whiteboard.
Here’s the backgrounds! I heavily relied on the animatic to make them, and I also snuck us into the backgrounds…. I had to tweak these backgrounds a lot during pre production, I wanted to give a sort of childish vibe with these I’m not sure if it really fits though.
I’ll probably update this soon to include props since there’s a fair bit of them. Same with my struggles and successes in editing and all of that.
