This is an animatic that I made using two of my main characters from my story “The Horde.” I made this animatic to act as an advertisement for my story.
I decided to put my two characters in the popular animated meme “I’m At Soup!” to best showcase their personalities in a light-hearted, comedic way.
Animatic
Context & Characters
An agent accidentally starts a fire during her target practice. She doesn’t know how to put it out. So she has to ask the person she hates most, Rivet, to put it out for her. However, Rivet is busy buying oversized hoodies again. They both then get into an argument and it becomes very heated (literally).
Jackal
A fierce, cocky, and offensive rebel. She’s very loud when she’s angry (and she’s always angry).
Rivet
A shy and timid engineer. If you had a penny for every time she’s tripped over something, you’d be a billionaire.
Design Process
Target Audience
My target audience was those who are a fan of science fiction, original characters, and comedic skits. I target my animatic towards these people in hope to entertain them and get them interested in my story.
Challenges
I had several challenges with making this animatic. I mostly struggled with the paint bucket tool, since it works slightly differently than Photoshop’s paint bucket tool. It would either fill my entire canvas or not fill at all because of the tiniest gaps in my line art.
