I chose a character turnaround for my skills showcase. My prompt was “A wacky human who is average height and skinny, with medium, wavy purple hair, hazel eyes, a pale skin tone, and a crooked nose. They love painting. They want to write a book but are afraid of flying.”
whose it
I determined that my audience would likely be older high school students and young adults who could relate to my character on a more personal level. They’d be people who are interested in art.
time line
I had relatively two weeks to complete this project. I spanned my tasks across the weekend in between the schooldays so that I didn’t stress too much throughout the week if I ended up falling behind at all.
skills
I mostly used Photoshop and tools that you learn throughout the Graphic Design course along with some tricks hear and there from Photography class in high school.
struggles
I think my biggest struggle was not being able to use the smudge tool with the symmetry tool.
process
step 1
I first made a Pinterest board for my character to get a feel for how I think they would express themselves. I selected a few photos from the Pinterest for my mood board.
step 2
I made rough sketches of how I wanted my character to look.
