2025 Character Turnaround
This project is a full body turnaround of my character I made based off of a prompt for my skills showcase.

The Process
Originally, when I was starting the process, I was given the prompt:
“A wacky human who is average height and skinny, with medium, wavy purple hair, hazel eyes, a pale skin tone, and a crooked nose. They love painting. They want to write a book but are afraid of flying.”
The original sketches I first made to flesh out my character and try to keep it in the prompt. The main thing I wanted to highlight was their fear of flying, and ironically I wanted to give them wings because of it.
After a few looks at the design, I made the character a little bit more rounder and shorter than its original skinny counterpart to better suit the audience I chose, which was mainly children to teenagers around the age 10-15 year olds. I then created the silhouette and drawing using the color palette I chose. My main challenge with this was finding a good silhouette for the character and making him seem confident, but also reserved.

After adding the colors and shading, it was time to make the gif, and it was the hardest by far.

The hardest thing about the gif was lining all of the poses up so the turnaround didn’t seem out of place and wobbly. I had to put a line guide in the middle of the canvas and make sure all of the poses were lined up in order to make it be as consistent as possible.
Making the expressions for the turnaround was tricky, but only because I was running out of time and the deadline was getting dangerously close. So I did not believe I did as great as coloring the character on the turnaround, but overall I did good on making it look as consistent as the others. I finished on November 4th (the deadline) and I feel confident that I did it to the best of my abilities.
