Holiday E-Card

I was asked to make a holiday e-card to be attached to an email sent out to admin and staff at the Francis Tuttle locations. In total, it was sent to over 1200 people!

The only requirements I had were to include the Francis Tuttle logo, my name, and the message ‘Season’s Greetings; warmest wishes for a joyful holiday season and a happy new year.’ Everything else was up to me to come up with. After some feedback, I settled on the hills with some trees and snowflakes.

Once I sketched out generally how I wanted it to look in Photoshop, I went into Illustrator to set up the actual composition. I needed to find a font that struck the balance between readable and fun, and started looking for some holiday-themed fonts. I also needed to make some snowflakes for the scene. I made a variety of them, referencing real-life pictures of snowflakes as well as cartoony stereotypes of what they’re typically depicted like.

Once I had feedback on what snowflakes and fonts looked the beat, I set up my composition with the logo and text. After some iterations, I came up with the final version that’d be turned into a gif and exported. Making it a gif not only allows for some movement, but compresses the file size down to something much smaller.
